I read an interesting article about YangZhingWei today. :D
Who says singers must be with good looks before he/she can be famous!

Thsi is what the article wrote:

Idol, dramas and good looks used to be the keys to making it big in entertainment in Taiwan. But a new wave of idols are expanding the rules. ( :D)
Singers such as Aska Yang, 29, and Jam Hsiao, 20, are winning over fans with their strong vocals rather that just style and packaging.
Take Yang, who shot to fame on the hugely popular One Million Star reality singing competition TV show. He did not even win.
In fact, he withdrew from then contest after it was revealed that he had lied about his age and faked his identification card. The media had a field day after they discovered he was five years older that he claimed to be.
With his long sharp face and wide-set eyes, Yang has been called plain-looking, a mountain caveman, and even a singing monkey. But he won fans over with his direct, emotive singing style.
Rock Records' managing director Nigam Kwang hwa said:" Actually, idols dont have to be good-looking. What they need is that X-factor so that you feel close to them."
In the case of Yang, " he can sing and the audience had invested their emotions in him and everyone sided with him when he was booted out of the show."
His debut album Dove was released on 11 jan and it topped the Taiwanese G-music album charts for four weeks.
The fresh-faced Hsiao also found fame through the show with his big, expressive voice despite his shy personality. And he appeared only three times as an hoc challenger...
